Nature photography

Adriana Claudia Sanz nació en Buenos Aires en 1970 y desde muy joven vive en Chubut, Patagonia, Argentina, donde desarrolló un fuerte contacto con la naturaleza. Se recibe de Bioquímica y obtiene luego una maestría en medioambiente lo que le permite dedicarse al cuidado del mismo, actividad que desarrolla desde hace más de dos décadas. Como parte de su trabajo debe registrar los componentes del ecosistema, sus características, alteraciones, evolución y es allí donde descubre su otro desvelo, la fotografía de naturaleza.

Hoy se encuentra dedicada por completo a ambas pasiones. Sus viajes periódicos son sesiones fotográficas intensas, donde fotografía para descubrir, inmortalizar, sensibilizar, porque cree en el poder de la imagen como herramienta de conservación, ya que amamos lo que conocemos y sólo cuidamos lo que amamos.

En sus fotos, ella busca dignificar al sujeto fotografiado encontrando esos momentos únicos de conexión que le permite transmitir sus sentimientos al espectador, tratando de establecer una comunicación entre ambos. Por otro lado, incorpora en cada imagen su visión artística, reflejando su interpretación de la realidad y no la realidad misma. Su pasión por esta actividad la ha llevado a trabajar activamente en organizaciones relacionadas con la fotografía de naturaleza (Asociación Argentina de Fotógrafos de Naturaleza «AFONA», Portfolio Natural, Nature First), en congresos, como jurado de concursos, en exposiciones y actividades de difusión de libros y revistas. Ha sido ganadora en 2020 de la categoría Retrato Animal de los concursos Golden Turtle y Nature Photographers of the Year (NPOTY) y de la beca Montphoto en 2021.

Adriana Claudia Sanz was born in Buenos Aires in 1970 and has lived in Chubut, Patagonia, Argentina since she was very young, where she developed a strong contact with nature. She graduated in Biochemistry and later obtained a Master’s Degree in Environment, which allowed her to dedicate herself to caring for it, an activity that she has been carrying out for more than two decades. As part of her work, she must record the components of the ecosystem, its characteristics, alterations, evolution, and that is where she discovers her other concern, nature photography.

Today she is completely dedicated to both passions. Her periodic trips are intense photo sessions, where she photographs to discover, immortalize, sensitize, because she believes in the power of the image as a conservation tool, since we love what we know and only take care of what we love.

In her photographs, she seeks to dignify the photographed subject, finding those unique moments of connection that allow her to convey the feelings of her photographed subject to the viewer, trying to establish communication between them. On the other hand, she incorporates in each image her artistic vision, reflecting her interpretation of reality and not reality itself.

Her passion for this activity has led her to work actively in organizations related to nature photography (Argentine Association of Nature Photographers «AFONA», Natural Portfolio), in congresses, as a jury of prestigious international competitions, in exhibitions and book dissemination and magazines. She is the winner of the Animal Portrait category of the Golden Turtle contest and also the Nature Photographers of the Year (NPOTY) contest in 2020, and the recipient of the Montphoto grant in 2021.
